Laboratory

 

We have capabilities of running preoperative and medical maintenance blood work (CBC, Biochemical Profile to include kidney and liver values), blood gas analysis and electrolyte panel. This blood work can be run prior to scheduling surgery or can be run as needed on hospitalized animals. Some blood work or tests need to be sent to outside laboratories. If there will be a delay in lab reporting you will be notified at the time and provided with an expected date for the results.

PBVS utilizes in house a sophisticated set of body fluid analysis equipment for detailed analysis of your pet’s condition. These modern machines combine the latest technology with rapid, accurate analysis. They can often complete a battery of tests with a minimal amount of blood compared to more traditional machines. This translates into less stress and discomfort for your pet. Some common tests that are completed in-house include complete blood count, serum chemistries, blood gas and electrolytes, clotting tests and urine and body fluids analysis. In addition, minor biopsy (cytology) can be performed. Specialized tests and bacterial cultures (which require an incubation period) can also be processed in our lab and then sent to outside laboratories to achieve the most accurate and comprehensive results
