The Night Before Surgery

You will receive a confirmation telephone call the night before your pet's scheduled surgery date. At this time you will be given instructions with regard to food and water restrictions, medications, drop off time, etc. It is standard in most cases to have your pet fasted from food and water from 10 p.m. the night before surgery and the day of surgery.

Most patients are to be dropped off between 6:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. at which time they will be prepared preoperatively (blood work, catheter placement and radiographs) for surgery. Each patient has specific needs. If you feel the above protocol is in conflict with your pet's health (renal failure, young dog). please express your concerns at the time of this phone call or speak with your pet's surgeon.
