Speciality Services
Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology is the branch of veterinary medicine that specializes in the
evaluation of function and disease of the eye, eyelids and its immediate surroundings.
We offer a completely comprehensive ophthalmology service which has been equipped
with state of the art equipment and complemented by a well-respected, board
certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist along with a dedicated ophthalmology nurse.
We are proud to offer comprehensive facilities with additional support reinforced
by other specialists in our practice.
As veterinary medical care for your pet has dramatically expanded in recent
years, so has our ability to examine, diagnose, and resolve many eye conditions.
In step with the rapid advances in veterinary ophthalmology, we offer the latest;
techniques, technologies and instrumentation to treat a wide range of ophthalmologic
conditions. Our Ophthalmology service offers a full complement of surgical
and specialized ophthalmic equipment, including electroretinography (ERG),
ultrasonography, phacoemulsification units, an operating microscope, diode
laser, and an extensive variety of microsurgical instruments. We have cross
sectional imaging, MRI and CT available, to provide accurate diagnoses through
advanced imaging. Our 24-hour, 7-days-a-week Emergency Service can readily
admit urgent and emergency ophthalmic patients for immediate, after-hours evaluation,
until the Ophthalmologist is able to evaluate the condition. Our emergency
service also works closely with us to manage intensive medical and postoperative
patients that can benefit from overnight and weekend care. PBVS also performs
CERF examinations and offers this at no charge to active service dogs. We are
proud to support the ACVO’s National Service Dog day each year, and to
continue this work year round.
