Radiation therapy
Radiation Therapy is used to treat animals with solitary or isolated cancers
with the goal of shrinking or destroying these tumors. Therapy is used in conjunction
with surgery or for those patients where surgery is not an option.
The most commonly treated lesions include feline fibrosarcomas, bone cancers
in which the owner is not wanting to amputate a limb or other soft tissue lesions.
The course of treatment involves several radiation treatments over 2- 5 weeks
and will be dictated by the location and type of cancerous lesion as well as
patient health. Radiation therapy is a good alternative for patients in which
surgery is not an option or in which chemotherapy is not recommended.
